God Eater 2 (ゴッドイーター2 Goddo Ītā 2) is a video game developed by Shift and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment on November 14, 2013 in Japan for PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita. It is a sequel to God Eater. It features a new setting, as well as new protagonists, new monsters, and new weapons. An expansion titled God Eater 2: Rage Burst was released in Japan on the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. It was released in Western territories in summer 2016 with North American and European divisions of Bandai Namco Entertainment publishing the game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Microsoft Windows.

Gameplay

In comparison to Gods Eater Burst there are new features and additions such as the four new weapons, the Boost Hammer, Charge Spear, the Variant Scythe and the Shotgun, each has its own function and abilities for the player to use. The Boost Hammer is a large hammer fitted with a rocket booster, which can be used to inflict heavy damage on an enemy. The Charge Spear is a large spear that can be "charged" to form a sharpened organic blade that can be used to stab foes. The Variant Scythe is a large scythe that are able to extend for a long range. The Shotgun is a large cannon that can spray bullets, allowing increased damage the closer the players were to the opponent. Most of the existing weapons also have additional features and skills, such as the Short Blade's new skill that allows players to use an upward slash that instantly send them in mid-air, and the Long Blade's new skill that can cancel attacks, thus allowing combos.

Blood Arts

The Blood Arts are one of the new additions in the game. Blood Arts are "attack add-on" that can augment normal attacks of all manner into an even stronger attack, thus making it either unlock new Blood Arts, or convert existing one into a much stronger variant. Raising a Blood Art's proficiency requires going on newer missions and completing it, thus finishing a mission with a higher rank gives more experience points to the currently equipped Blood Art, as well as the other Blood Arts of the same variant.

Character Episodes

Character Episodes are one of the newest features in the game. Throughout the game, players can interact with various characters and NPCs, though they asked you to accept their invitation to a mission. Completing it will give players additional gameplay bonuses, such as materials, items, and even additional Blood Arts for some of the main characters.

Link Support Device

Unlocked through Character Episodes, this gameplay feature allow players to gain status effects in battle under a certain parameter, such as gaining 10% additional attack power to all attacks when the player's health reaches 25% of its remaining health. This is done so by equipping a "Link Device" of one of your allies' God Arc (Jinki in the Japanese release), as well as your own. However, there's a limit of points that you can use to equip one, since the total limit is at 100 cap points, equipping a Link Device consumes 50-60 cap points.

Setting

The game takes place 3 years after God Eater. A new pandemic caused by "Red Rain" has struck the Far East Branch. Members of Special Forces "Blood", an affiliate of Fenrir who reside in a mobile base, known as "Friar", are sent to investigate.

Plot

Part 1

The unnamed Protagonist is the newest God Eater who joined special group known as "Blood": A group of God eaters who has special ability called "Blood Power". Who founded by Dr. Rachel Cladius and leading by Blood captain named Julius Visconti. The Protagonist also meet a newest Blood member named Nana Kozuki who follow her dessesaced mother footsteps who also a God Eater. Julius later giving their first mission by defeating the Aragami, which is sucsses. After their first mission, Protagonist and Nana meet Romeo Leoni, Julius's friend who also Blood member. Around the same time they meet Dr. Leah Cladius, Rachel's older sister, Director Gregory de Gremslow, a snobbish and arrogant General Friar director, and Yuno Ashihara, a talented singer who Romeo is fans of hers.

Blood group later joined two God Eaters: Ciel Alençon, a Young woman who also from same orphanage with Julius and Gilbert "Gil" McLane: A veteran God Eater who nicknamed "Fragging Gil" since his mentor named Kate death five year ago. all Blood member later aiding to Fenrir Far East Branch and working together with Cradle, A independent God Eater group. Blood unit later greeted 1st unit captain Kota Fujiki. With the exception both Julius (his ability is unlocked earlier) and Romeo (who hasn't yet awaken his power ) Each blood members awakening their "Blood Power":

Protagonist: Fighting Against Marduk-type Aragami. Resulting scar on its eye;

Ciel: Apologize to Protagonist after he/she save her. Which is resulting disobey order;

Gil: Avenging Kate death's by defeating Aragami Rufus Caligula with Teruomi and Protagonist;

Nana: Finally remember her mother's death. Which resulting her memory is blocked.

During next blood's mission. Romeo began acting strangely, such a lowering his fighting against Aragami. Gil conforting him about his odd behaviour. Romeo revealed he jelaous to other Blood's due their power is awaken and running away into unknown place. He later found by old couple who shelter him during red rain appears. While thanking them for taking care to him. An Aragami suddenly appear in front of him. Luckily, Romeo able called his blood group and defeat them. He later apologize for his reckless adittude. Which resulting him awaken his blood power.

The next day, a huge red rain fallin in Anagura, which resulting everyone return in shelter. Romeo find out about the old couple wasn't present in quarantine zone and the radio call from north gate is broken. He decided searching them, with Julius follow him. However, they end up running Garm Aragami instead. Although they managed defeating Garm, they surrounded by more Garm Aragami's. Which leading by Marduk Aragami earlier. Julius and Romeo are being brutally attacked by them. Romeo decided using his newfound blood power to defeat them, which is able to hurt Garm but did not work on Marduk who attacking Romeo in thin-air. With his last strength, Romeo finally activating his blood power. Which making Aragamis scared and run away. Julius find a dying Romeo who apologize for making trouble to him and very happy that old couple is saved by Julius before he die in front of him. A funeral for Romeo was later carried by blood and cradle groups, with Yuno singing for Romeo so her song can reach him in afterlife.

After the Romeo's funeral, the blood find out about Julius resignation for helping Dr. Rachel God Arc Soldier project so the God Eaters are no longer risk their lives for fighting Aragamis and the Blood group is now a part of Fenrir far east branch. Blood Unit later found Marduk Aragami and fought it with God Arc Soldiers help until finally killing it. Which Romeo's death is now finally avenged. They later became understand why Julus working hard for them, but still refuses return to blood. Instead, he promoted Protagonist from Vice-Captain to full-fledged Captain with Ciel is now a new Vice-Captain.
